That 3 is associated with Jupiter, Sagittarius and Pisces, gives new meaning to all the 3's. Expansion of thoughts, actions, material wealth and emotions in a fun way and with reason to celebrate. Yet there can be inclusion of a third dimension, a new thought or a new path that may bring in a joyous mood initially may also intrude on the union that was just two until now. But the bow of the Sagittarius with just the string and the rod can do nothing without the arrow and the target depends on the one who holds the bow.
Jupiter seems to bring in that arrow into one's life whether it be thoughts, actions, emotions or material quest. It is that opportunity that can lead to triumph. The triangle shows completion and yet adds up to 180 degrees so there is still another 180 degrees to go the full circle.
Creation, transformation and destruction may occur at the same time for a purpose that leads to better times.

The Hanged man
Micki's post and the St Peter who hanged upside down part made me think along new lines about the "Hanged Man". Is it calling us to be different from the master universe and the mind that makes us think and act in a pattern? Is it asking to respect the master within ourselves or to hang our egos?
The image brings to mind, the bats that hang upside down when resting. When I checked as to why they do that, there were some interesting answers
"Bats hang upside down because they do not have the capacity like birds to launch themselves into the air from the ground or any other standing position. Basically, by hanging upside down all they have to do to take flight is let go and gravity propels them down fast enough for them to become airborn."
"Let go and gravity propels you to become airborn" seems like a very interesting message that the hanged man brings.
Also bats have weak legs, so is it a situation that talks of a handicap that needs to be dealt with intelligence. Now the hanged man is hanging only with one leg and the other leg is crossed. When everything else seems to be falling there is still one leg hanging from the tree so there could be something that makes one hold on and if that is gone, will the man come crashing down or be saved?
If you draw a numeral on the hanged man, it is 4 upside down, the Emperor upside down, now that syncs with the St. Peter part too, while Jesus was King, St Peter was a follower and the halo around the head depicts sainthood.
So it seems like the hanged man speaks of - letting go, using one's intelligence, breaking from the master mind/plan, a handicap that could cause one to lose control, being a follower rather than the master, a time of introspection and rest, the call of gravity towards what is rather than what one wants.

Death
Death to me is a very scary event and I never can deal with it peacefully. It definitely signifies a loss of something very precious that really aches.
Now if one loses someone special, there may never be a replacement for this person but over-time one learns to live without this person in your life and so life does change but it may take time and there is a period of loss and mourning.
The Death card seems to talk of a loss that may be painful or that which may take some time to deal with. It may ask for a preparation of the mind to deal with a loss so detachment is called for.
It is possible that this change may not be acceptable to start with and may be forced rather than chosen. It may be caused by someone else or within because of your detachment to something. We are all so very attached to our families, friends, jobs, the basics and the luxuries, to our egos and perceptions, to the place and the environment that letting go is never easy.

It has a very strong spiritual inclination too and seems to remind us that we came from the ashes and to the ashes we shall return and that in the bigger picture everything we see and believe is very miniscule.

So how do we unite these two opposing forces by bringing some moderation and while staying in the water step onto land? The emotions nag on but we have to move on too.
There has to be a higher quality that makes us look beyond the struggle, to see things more peacefully and create a balance in a life that may be testing. Maybe an angel brings in that balance to push start you or drag you out of your tears.
In one of my difficult moments I wrote in my blog: When you love and you give, when trials test you and you have needs but you rise above your situation to reach out to the needs of another; does that make you strong or weak? When you say yes, when you want to say No, does that make you strong or weak? Do you have Temperance to balance your emotions for the greater good?
In India, we drink coffee and tea, in a steel glass and not a cup usually. To cool hot tea, 2 glasses are taken and the liquid is poured from one to another to cool it to the right temperature and this is quite a sight at a tea shop that you now find only in smaller towns.
The cups in the hands of the angel remind me of this cooling that we have to do during heated moments to set a peaceful temperature and it also seems like she is testing the waters too before getting into it or staying safe with one leg on land.
The wings also seem to ask to rise above the earthly connection and to view an event with spiritual understanding, to rise above our ego, and to look beyond the black and white views of life.
Temperance may be calling to look at an addiction, an attachment, a relationship, or an emotional upheaval that calls for moderation.

Of all the meanings and messages from the Devil, I have been most attracted to this one and always see the Devil not so much as evil or scary but as the darker side of life that we are all exposed to and if we acknowledge and deal with it in the right way, it could actually empower rather than control.
This is from LLewellyn tarot and I once mailed a friend this reading when the Devil came up as his personality card.
The devil is a half goat, half god creature who symobolises lust, greed, passion, obsession etc so it is the least revered card. The card says: " All I am bringing out is what is already in you so do not resist me". Such feelings are nothing to fear, avoid or be ashamed of.
You are not inhibited like others are by their own perceptions of what is good and what is not. You can be free when you wish to be so the chains of the devil do not control you but only allow you to explore even the dark side that most people just avoid in life. You allow your impulses and aspirations to take you to the top of the mountain and you know that inhibitions can enslave one just as much as excesses.
What others may see in you or dislike about you may be that you may do anything to get to the top and that marks the devil in you but nothing may stop you in following your passion to the greatest heights.
Your right and wrong is decided by you and not by anyone else's bible and no one can dictate what you should do or should not do. If you see the horns of the goat, they can tear someone's guts apart and yet their eyes are innocent and peaceful. The devil is not a creature of evil but of great power both of beast and god, it allows your dark side to rise.
Like all power it is frightening, and dangerous... but it is also the key to freedom and transcendence if understood and well used.
Temptation and addiction go along with this card and when you want something you may go all out to get it. This card symbolizes ambitions and asks you not to be restrained. The Devil represents a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling or just persuasive. You will be enslaved only if you allow it and no one can dictate control unless you give permission. In short, if this card came up, it is a phase in your life when you will rule your thoughts and actions, your decisions may not always be favored or liked by others but you are at a phase when your aspirations and goals are bigger than all other things and if you are seen as a Devil because of this you may not even care.

Ofcourse, this can also end up in failures which are then attributed to Saturn's evil effects but behind the results are what it brings out of a person who has been restrained. He is treated with great reverence and worshipped more than any other God in India so he is demands respect. He is associated with the crow/raven which is associated with old spirits in India.

"Head over heels" usually refers to love at first sight, giving in completely, an infatuation or just being blind about something.

The tower is tall so the fall is always great and if that means sitting on your high ego and not willing to let go, it may be asking to let go of that high rise gloated perception and let the head open up to the real situation.
The light house is always leading the lost ship to land but what if it shatters like we see in most images, you may not have that guidance or someone who may have been leading you. The loss of a guru or a need to be on your own and survive with your own light rather than another could be indicated.
A need for change, breaking away from the tall castle that could have jailed you and finding your freedom may be asked for but this may not be easy as you can't just step out but may have to take that jump and big leap to freedom.
I am now wondering if this relates to an incident of our times, the 9/11, then is the question whether we are terrorizing and causing damage to someone's tower, can our anger and fire destroy too in our own small way so do we become terrorists with our thoughts and emotions to our dear ones and neighbors?

Empress
I have been finding more meaning, exploring new ways to listen to the cards but I have been on a lazy lap in recording the lessons as I have been busy with new metaphysical experiences. I think it is time to create a log so all my lessons are not lost with time as I am sure they will go places and metamorphosis may take away the foundation.
I picked this card for a friend today and then looked for more meaning. Surprisingly it was a message for me too.
You will be nourished and taken care of. Nature will bring you abundance in various forms that will cause new sensations that enchant you. Allow your senses to take in all that you receive from the Universe.
The Empress is like a mother, nurturing and caring. Abundant goodness will be a gift from mother nature. The immediate period may be a gestation period and you will have to be patient to nurture ideas, projects, or relationships to give them the right nutrition at this time so you can deliver your baby the way you would like it.
You may worry and watch very closely but do not let worry affect the results or you. Do not be possessive or afraid to take help. All things need time to gestate and grow so give your project the time it needs. Be careful and give attention to the details without worrying.
